What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of holistic care. It is a non-invasive energy healing technique that supports relaxation and reduces stress and anxiety through a hands-on healing technique. Reiki practitioners deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki treatments allow the body to at a minimum, relax and restore, which helps lessen the impact of stress, releasing tension from the entire system. Reiki supports the body's healing mechanisms to begin the process of functioning more effectively. I am not the healer, your body is, I am merely assisting in facilitating its natural processes.

How should I prepare for my Reiki treatment?

We recommend that you dress comfortably – wear loose and breathable clothing. Eating and hydrating (preferably water) before your session are also recommended, however, finishing heavy meals a few hours before your session is encouraged and it is recommended that you refrain from caffeine or alcohol at least three hours before a session.

For an in-person session, please plan to show up to your appointment 10 minutes early so that you don’t feel rushed. Plan ahead for potential traffic and/or parking.

What should I expect from my first session?

During your initial session, we will go over some brief intake paperwork and discuss what you are hoping to gain from your Reiki session, questions, concerns, etc. We will then begin your Reiki session which involves the following:

  • Lying on a Reiki table fully clothed on your back

  • Reiki involves a hands-on healing technique – often on the shoulders, arms, legs, and feet (during your intake we go over your experience, triggers, etc.) Reiki is not a massage and should never require you to undress.

  • Once your session is over, we will sit down together to go over your experience, follow-up questions, concerns, etc.
